Our Commitment

The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to providing world-class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives in a safe, fair, fun, and family-friendly environment. As part of that commitment, AYSO Region 359 supports the privacy and confidentiality of our members and handles personal information in a responsible and appropriate manner.

Information We Collect

  • Dates of birth
  • Home addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Emergency contact information
  • Medical information that may affect safe participation

Volunteers may also be required to provide additional information needed for volunteer screening and eligibility review.

When registration or membership fees are paid by credit or debit card, the information is used to process the transaction. AYSO states that card information is not stored by the organization.

Volunteer Screening Information

Volunteers may be asked to provide information necessary for background screening, including legal name, date of birth, address, contact information, and other identifying information required by AYSO’s screening process.

AYSO states that background screening information is transmitted securely to its screening vendor and that volunteer disclosures and screening results are treated as private and confidential.

Background check results are used only for determining volunteer eligibility and are not shared publicly.

AYSO may also collect information submitted by users through email, online forms, surveys, contests, and other website features.

In addition, certain technical information may be collected automatically, such as IP address, browser type, and website pages visited. This information is generally used to improve website performance, communication, and the overall user experience.

Statistical or demographic data may be shared in summary form, but not in a way that personally identifies individual members without permission.

Email Communications

In compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, AYSO provides members with the opportunity to opt out of promotional emails.

Children’s Privacy

In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), AYSO does not knowingly collect or use personal information from children under the age of 13 without parental consent.

Photos and Video

Player and volunteer photographs or video may be taken and used in training or promotional materials as permitted through AYSO registration forms and releases.

AYSO states that it does not publicly identify children by name when using these materials and works to protect player identity in public forums.

Families and volunteers should also be aware that spectators at games, practices, or events may take photos or videos. While AYSO asks spectators to respect privacy guidelines, it may not be able to control how outside individuals use those images.

Electronic Communication and Social Media

AYSO asks all adults to maintain transparency and appropriate boundaries in electronic communication involving children and youth volunteers.

  • Communication about AYSO activities should be directed to parents or guardians.
  • If direct communication with an older player or youth volunteer is allowed, parents or guardians must still be included on all messages.
  • Adults should avoid private, personal, or ongoing one-on-one electronic conversations with children.
  • Public websites and social media pages should not post team rosters, contact information, or content that identifies children in unsafe ways.
  • Public posts should not include names or personal details that could identify children to the wrong individuals.

All AYSO websites and social media pages should be monitored to prevent inappropriate content, bullying, or unsafe sharing of player information.

How Information Is Protected

AYSO states that its systems use security measures such as encryption, firewall protection, restricted access, and secure storage procedures to protect personal information.
